How do you change the window resolution

Specs: Windows Vista
ok so this has been giving me a headache for the past 2 weeks >_< im a graphic designer and i cant edit pictures anymore because it doesnt come out right, it stretches too much =-=

so i turned on my pc and the screen is super zoomed in
i went to change the screen resolution

i have window vista 7
it is
-17" diagonal
-1440x900

in trying to get it to go back to normal but 1440x900 isnt one of the options =-= pleaseee help me!! im gonna die here

Sounds like Video Card driver somehow stopped working and your system resorted to standard VGA. Try reinstalling or updating the driver from the device manager. The Video Card manufacturer's web site is usually the safest bet for add-on cards and the motherboard's site for integral cards.

Do you have Vista and Windows 7 on the same computer?
For Windows 7 you right click your empty desktop - Resolution.
1440 x 900 should be on the drop down list.
