Can it be done? which program do I need to download to view? Ive tried dwonloading WinRar and a few others but they dont appear to have cocmpleted downloading (get bogged down in pop-up extras I dont want). What should I do? Please help! The photos are very special - of the birth of my friends baby!

Doing some Googling, it looks like tec files are the thumbnails and not the pictures, are you sure you set the phone to save to the micro SD card and not the internal storage?

If you still can't find the pictures anywhere, you could always email the pictures to yourself. It might be a little time consuming but at least you will have them on your computer.

If you still want to try to convert the files, try this. Normally we're not supposed to link to other forums but here is one where someone wrote a java program to convert the tec files to jpeg. Look at the second to the last post

Thanks! I had found that site and made contact. he is going to try with a tec. file I have sent to him. Fingers crossed! I have also posted another question on this site, in the last 10 minutes or so, because a lot of the files have gone missing (become Lost Files) ! Dangerous business this technology when you dont know what you are doing!!! Hope someone can help. Brilliant to have these forums for asking questions of people who do know a bit more! Thanks again for your post. I cant be online now until tomorrow but will look again in the morning.

Almost certainly pictures should be .jpg files but stupid Windows does not show this file extension by default. Go to "Control Panel > Folder Options > View". Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". For lots of reasons it is best to leave it that way - you just have to remember when you rename a file do not rename the extension as well.

Now plug your card in and go to "Computer". See if the card shows as a drive. If so Open it and look inside it. Somewhere you ought to see some files with a jpg extension (maybe inside a DCIM or other folder). If so click one and see if it opens a picture.

You do not need any special program to view jpg files and it would be a crazy phone if it didn't give you those. The tec files are not your pictures.

It might just be that you need to set the Windows AutoPlay to give you a pop-up when you plug the card in, with a Pictures option.

Let us know how you get on and we can take it further.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I've copied over my answer on your other post in case it gets removed. [The additional new information was that the card no longer functions in the phone or elsewhere]

=================================================

Sounds like it was a bad card or you have somehow managed to corrupt it. Your only hope is a recovery program using your computer. See this free program:

As I said before, forget those strange file types - your photo's would have been standard jpg files that are used on about all phones, cameras and computers.

Best see this other post too:
http://www.computing.net/answers/di...

As you can see the situation has changed. The poster cannot even see the photos in the phone now. Not sure a sync manger program would help that.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
