Solved how do I put things from CD onto my laptop?

April 3, 2014 at 12:47:15
Specs: Windows XP, 2 GB Ram
copied a folder full of recipes onto a CD. then put the CD into my laptop computer(which is not hooked up to the internet)
I sent the recipes to "shortcut to desktop" they opened fine, then when I took out the CD and tried to open the recipes it said "please insert CD"
I don't want to take the CD with me each time I want to see a recipe. How do I get the recipes to stay on without the CD each time? My Laptop is a Dell Windows 7
Thanks for your help Nicki

✔ Best Answer
Create a Folder on your c: drive - or if you use another drive for data - then on that one. Give it a suitable name of course.

Load the CD; access its contents via Windows Explorer; copy the contents of the CD to that folder.

A shortcut is just that; it points to the location referred to in the shortcut's target entry.

Remove the target/destination (the CD drive and the CD in this case) and the shortcut will cough up an error message or prompt to that effect - in this case "please insert CD".
