Unfortunately "mylaptopstop.com" is incorrect.

The short answer is you can't, as it was quite deliberately disabled by MS. The logic I've seen about this lack of feature (as far as I recall) was to tempt you to buy a higher Win 7 version - somewhat dubious I feel.

Well, there are third party programs to do this but strictly it is against Win 7 starter edition licence, so I guess it is against the forum rules for me to point you to anything.

Please come back and let us know the outcome.

I consider it a minor loss. I usually have a plain pastel background. Old eyes don't need any distractions.

just add more ram and do an upgrade, they usually package them for a low price with new windows starter systems.

The reason for that feature to be disabled is that the hardware that version is designed to run on does not have the processor power or the memory to run extras such as that. I assume you are using a Netbook?

mine is a toshiba netbook and I upgraded to 2GB ram, purchased the win 7 upgrade for less than $50 at Bestbuy...it works great. Some netbooks can only see 1GB of ram...you have to check that when pricing netbooks.

On my MSI U160 Netbook (Win 7 Starter edition) I doubled the RAM from 1G to 2G and it made no obvious difference to its somewhat sluggish performance. Possibly CPU limitations - have yet to check further.

Please come back and let us know the outcome.

Atom 1.6 or 1.8 are very weak processors.
