You need to be a but more clear as to what you are trying to do.

Firefox is a web browser.

It is an executable file with a .exe extension. You dont want to change that.

If is designed to process HTML files the the .HTM or HTML extension.

So what is the problem.

Chances are that what he wants can be done by going into the
Control Panel, then Default Programs, and then either "Set your
default programs" or "Associate a file type or protocol with a
program", or both.

If that doesn't work, there is a website with Registry mods that
will fix messed-up filetype associations.
