Specs: Windows 7, 3gb
I've two usb memory sticks that until yesterday worked perfectly, but now everytime i insert them into any usb port (I've tried a few different computers), a message keeps prompting me to format my disk. I haven't formatted anything but its not giving me any other option only to cancel. There doesn't look to be any visible damage done to either usb, is it possible to retrieve the information from the usb's??

The last thing that I tried and liked is Scavenger.
It's probably been 3 years.
I tell you what little I know about it. I just played with it retriving small items.
You should download to a CD not your computer. If you download or write over your
pictures their gone.
Their website has changed and I don't see the Free Trial version.
I used it for my hard drive, not a memory stick.

It sounds like the devices Master Boot Records and Partition tables may have been deleted. A similar thing happened to one of my drives just by using Windows 7. It worked perfectly for years in Windows XP. There is software out there to help recover these and effectively restore your files, but I'm having trouble choosing a quality one. I'm not willing to try an unknown free program for such an important task and risk loosing the files.

The important thing to know is the more you use the drives until they're fixed, the less chance you have at recovering your files. Hopefully someone will follow up with advice we can both use.

Apologies if I don't respond to your reply immediately. I don't check this site daily.
