You can reset the settings in the monitors settings menu.
But I suspect, that it's more likely the monitor cable or plug, which is corrupt or the plug is not plugged in correctly.

Have you checked that?

If it is a very strong purple tint, you probably don't have
any green signal. Anything green will look almost black.

The problem could be anywhere from the video board
to the monitor, and could be hardware, video driver, or
a monitor setting.

If the effect is weak, you might be able to compensate
for it with a video driver or monitor setting adjustment,
even if the problem is hardware, but you should try to
find any hardware problem first.

A hardware problem may be a bad connection as paulsep
suggested, or something gone bad in the video board or
monitor.

Do you have speakers mounted close to your monitor screen?

Are you using an LCD or CRT type monitor? CRT are very susceptible to magnetic fields.

The above comments are also valid.
