Do you mean RAM or Hard Disk Space? Your title says RAM but your most of your post refers to items that just take up HD space.

If RAM is what you mean you need to prevent programs running in the background that could either be uninstalled or run on demand. Typing msconfig in the Run box would be a quick way to tackle these. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck any that you don't need starting on every boot. Some programs, such as Skype, have an option in their own controls to start or not start with Windows.

If you are trying to recover hard disk space then deleting video files that you don't need would help a bit.

Let us know which you mean and we can try to give more focussed help.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

✔ Best Answer
For hard disk space, run disk clean up (as above), then uninstall any programs that you never use (Google any you are not sure of), then check the amount of virtual memory (paging file) and reduce it to about the amount of RAM you have (if near 4GB or more), then reduce the amount of space Windows allocates to System Restore from 12 or 14% down to 8% for 500GB drives or larger and 10% for smaller drives (this just reduces the amount of restore points your system can save).
For a RAM issue, reduce start up items (as above), then uninstall anything you do not use, then report back to us on what your system is (make and model number), how much RAM you have, and maybe if you are really short on memory (RAM) you can add more. You can also go to www.crucial.com and have them scan your system and they will tell you how much memory you have and what your options you have as far as adding more (you can then purchase from where ever you like, just write down the info).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
