The error usually means the hard drive has failed so you need to replace it with a new one.

If first-boot device priority is not given to the hard disk on which the OS is installed, you may also get such a message when there is another (external) disk is connected and boot device priority is given in BIOS to that . Even an USB flash disk may cause such a message if USB device is the firstboot device and an USB flash disk is attached at time of booting. Other problem disks are floppy diskettes in Floppy Disk Drives, USB hard disks, etc.

So change boot device priority in BIOS to the hard disk with an OS.

Another possibility might be that the boot partition of your hard disk is damaged so it cannot boot. Then startup repair is the way to go.

While your response above may generally be the case, don't you think we should explore other possibilities before recommending replacement of the hard drive?
