Solved how can I manually enter my gateway default IP address

Specs: Windows 7
I have an Acer laptop. Yesterday, my Anti-virus software updated, and I lost my gateway default address. How can I manually enter it with a windows 7 OS?

There should be no need to enter it manually. The Gateway address should be configured automatically via DHCP from the router.

If you have DHCP disabled and are entering IP addresses manually you will need both the Gateway address and the computers IP address both of which are determined by your routers configuration.

Go to Network and sharing Centrer from the Control Panel and you have all the tools there to set up a network. Chooses Troubleshoot problems first as Windows 7 is pretty good at working things out for itself.

However, updating anti-virus should not have any effect on the Gateway address as that is determined by the router which the ani virus has no effect on.
