Since you haven't listed any specs it's going to be hard to help. Is your laptop capable of running a 64 bit operating system? Is it capable of running Windows 7? Post your system specs.

I doubt very much that the message just said your computer needs to be repaired. What was the full message and at what point during the install did you see it?

Are you running a clean install, or are you trying to upgrade a currently installed version of Windows?

Hi uthayan,

If the system is not booting to Windows, restart the system and tap F8 for advance boot options. Select Safe Mode and hit enter.

To perform clean installation of the operating system, set the optical drive as the 1st boot device from the BIOS menu. To enter the BIOS menu, restart the system and tap F2 or delete.

Ensure that the disk in the optical drive and restart the system. Press enter if the system prompts to press any key to boot from the optical drive.

Follow the on screen instructions to perform Windows installation.

For clean installation format the partitions and install the operating system.

NOTE: Performing a clean installation will remove the data and applications present in the system.

You can also perform a installation by not formatting the partition.

For Dell laptops, refer to the link mentioned below:
