Solved How can I designate my VGA monitor as number one/primary

Hewlett-packard / PAVILION

Specs: Windows 7, Intel Pentium D 925
I am trying to add a second monitor which is not ready to be used. But when plugged in it assumes the #1 position and my VGA primary monitor becomes number two and I cannot see to make adjustments.

✔ Best Answer
Start>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound> Display
If two monitors are plugged in, there should be settings there for them.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

That works when I have a monitor that is ready to use. I have another monitor which needs some adjustment and then it tries to display and cannot, even though I had my desktop monitor as my main display

I have found a VGA port on my TV, so I'm now trying to make that connection work. The PC seems to be all st to do the job, but the TV id searching for signal. Well, it should. The TV has to have specific source--it has one HDMI, AV1, and S-video. When I try to format the TV so it has Source for the PC, I cannot make that happen. Spent about two hours on the a chat with Samsung and they decided there has to be a problem with the TV, sooooo I have a Samsung service man coming next Monday. Even though this problem was never solved it is time to move on so we cn close this discussion for now anyway.

Thanks for your help. Uncle Dewey
