Hover mouse over icon fail to open browser

Specs: Windows 7 , 4 gb
no longer can open mozilla browser with the left click of the mouse....
have to right click and click on "open" then the browser will open....when before all i had to do is mouse over it and a browser would open.??

tried to uninstall it and reinstall, can't and will not uninstall from the control panel.??

internet explorer on the other hand opens up...

what should be done here please?....thanks!

Check if this happens on any other program. If it does, you might have a mouse driver issue or a mouse going bad. I cannot think of any reason this would only happen on one program.
If the problem is still on one program only, try restarting (for those who rarely shut down) and scan for virus/malware with updated software.
Added: The desktop icon is only a link to the program, you can delete it and then go back into 'start' programs and find Firefox, right click and select 'send to desktop as shortcut' to replace the icon with a new one if the original one became currupted.
