Solved Hotmail not working on only one computer

Microsoft Windows xp home edition w/sp2
January 25, 2014 at 14:20:56
Specs: Windows 7
I recently got out an HP computer from storage running Win7 and I'm having trouble accessing my Hotmail account on it even though Hotmail works fine on other computers (win8.1, win7 and winXP). I can open my Hotmail account and open one message. Then all other messages will not open until I sign out, close the browser, open the browser, sign in again and then once again only one message will open. I tried updating Java and Flash Player with no success. I was using IE 11.

Are you using webmail, or are you accessing your email via software; eg, Outlook, Windows Live Mail, or Thunderbird?

If webmail, try accessing via another browser.

Yes, try another browser (Firefox or whatever) just to see if that does it too. You don't have to keep it. If another browser runs it then try IE Reset:
IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset button.
You will lose your customizations and addons but addons soon come back with usage and Favorites are not touched.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

thank you very much. I had tried recovering the computer back to factory condition and I thought that would take IE back to original settings, too. But when that didn't work I was really stumped. Thanks for reminding me of that reset button - now it works fine.
