Cpu runs all the time (system idle >50%). Pc is clean. HD for OS is 1000 gt, used 50 gt. An other HD for data is 1000 gt, 30% free. OS is assembled (Vista64 ->W764 UG) two weeks ago to the formatted, clean HD.
So is the machine running slow? Or are you just looking at task manager?
Some problems by editing videos. Machine runs in other case quit normally.
I think, if this huge HD makes som indexing for a week ?
What else did you install? Norton or McAfee can hog a surprising amount of system resources. If you are using one of these, uninstall using the tools on their website and install a leaner meaner antivirus/antispyware program. If you want to test this, unplug from the internet, scan your system, the turn off the protection completely and then try the program in question and/or check your system numbers. If you installed many programs, some of them may be running at start up that do not need to. Use msconfig (start tab) and uncheck the ones that do not need to start every time windows starts, restart the machine and see if that helps.
Check your system with Malwarebytes (free version) to see if your Av prog missed something.
You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
Thanks, I don“t have Norton or McAfee, only Avast and MS Defender. I have made double online scanning with Fsecure and AVG. I have made weekly scanning with System Mechanic, CCleaner, Adware and Spybot. Nothing serious found ewer.
This problem came when I changed the system hd (C:) 40 Gb -> 1000 Gb and reinstalled W7.
Now the Hd (C:) runs all the time, but what ?
I stopped all Adobe programs (Phoshop / Acrobat) and this decreased cpu usage to about 40-60%. When only 2 program was running (Avast and CatalystContrCentr) cpu runs still too much 10-30%.I think a repair W7 installation is needed again.
Hi, I stopped all services at starup (msconfig). It takes time with no help. A new deep malvarescanning found 3 malware coocies, and in hd (C:) were probably some bad sectors too. Now all is pretty good. Thanks!
