Well i got my laptop (Compaq Presario C161) at about april/may 2010, i havnt had any problems with it until late decmeber 2010, the battery pack stoped working, so i went to PC world (where i purchased it from) and the tech guys helped out and said i need a new battery pack, 2 weeks later i receved my new battery pack, when i got the new battey, my laptpo became very slow, when i played music on windows media player it would jerk, and it was soo annoying i just didnt use my laptop, i called the tech guys they collected my laptop and was retured to me in 2weeks, and they said nothing was wrong with it! but i noticed only after an hour or so when connected to battery pack it starts being funny! then my friend recomened i purchase a new adapter from amazon coz she has the same problem and the same laptop!
this battey pack is a little better than the other one but my laptop still is slow, freezes and when i play music at times it does jerk
what should i do? i would prefer doing it myself at home if possible, because tech support dont actualy help!

(sorry its a little long XD)

I doubt it has anything to do with a battery. You may be infected with malware etc. Download and install the programs listed above. They're both free and work well to clean out the junk.

If those do not help, make a back up of your files, contact the factory and get an RMA to return it to them for replacement. You do not want to mess around with the store for months while your original factory warranty runs out. If you have not, consider getting the extended warranty while they are still offering it (factory being better than store one if they offer it).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
