HDMI + sound

Specs: Windows 7
Hi,

I currently output video to my HDTV via DVI with the sound played through on-board audio on my PC speakers.

I'm looking to get a graphics card with HDMI out and to have the sound output to the TV.

A couple of questions:

1 - Will this graphics card be OK? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/201166
2 - What will I have to do to get the sound to the TV through the HDMI?

Am I right in thinking I need to connect my on-board sound to the GFX card?
My sound is currently on-board,this is the mobo: http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb...

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

In my limited experience with hdmi the spec is really dvi and audio combined to a single connection. This rather assumes that you can select an audio choice to be delivered via hdmi and that the tv also supports it. I'd think that in most cases that would be true. There may be some that do not. I have never heard of attaching the auto to the video card.

There are situations where people want to use add on sound components and use hdmi and they want digital or analog and can't swap so they have to fool with stuff.

Ah OK - so are you saying that the capability to deliver the sound via HDMI should be built into the graphics card and all should be OK?

Should be that way. Some setting in windows or linux usually controls that.
