my computer crashed. had to buy reinstallation disc from hp. did reformat and reinstall. everything seems to be working fine, except, every time it woke from sleep i had to login. i went to power options, and chose change settings that are currently unavailable, and selected don't require a logon at wakeup. also, i chose dim after 5 min., never turn off display, and never put to sleep. am also using a screen saver. but every time i revive from screen saver, i have to log on. any suggestions? thanks, vandal67
Look at your screen saver options, you probably have it set to ask for a password there (many in businesses use this feature for security when you walk away for a few minutes). Or just disable screen saver since modern monitors do not need them any longer. If you want to improve your monitor's life, or save energy, enable the monitor to power down after 10 minutes idle, it usually powers up again fairly quickly. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

thanks fingers. i did overlook the password options in screen saver. vandal67
