Is there a way to "hack" to enable aero in windows 7? I have an older video card that does not support win 7. Will post more later.

If you know how to re-engineer aero drivers, it just "might" work. When they do work, upload it for everybody else to install Windows 7 Ultimate on machines that do not meet the minimum system requirements.

If your card is lacking a WDDM video driver, there's no hacking for you.

The reason why I say so is that Microsoft allowed XPDM drivers to work in the betas of vista, and 7 is very similar, so I was just wondering if that would work. So going off of an earlier response, does anyone know how to edit aero drivers?

You don't want to do this.

First of all, If your PC's Graphics card doesn't support aero, Then if you did hack it to work. You could cause system failures or many errors.
This could damage your PC or slow the performance of it.

You'd be better off buying a better Graphics card that supports Windows 7 + Aero.
Graphics cards ain't much money now, you can get fairly cheep ones that will support this without the need to hack it.

Does anybody know where I can get a video card that supports WDDM that I can install in a Dell D610 laptop? I am considering buying one.

The graphics chip in laptops are typically not upgradable & in the very rare cases where they can, the replacement is not a video card that you can just buy off-the-shelf at a computer store or grab online. There's not much you can do here.

Is there a fairly inexpensive external video card that I could install and just take everywhere my laptop goes? I have a PC card slot and most every port in the book.
