Gateway laptop stuck in setup mode

December 9, 2013 at 21:42:23
Specs: Windows 7, 1GHz/960 MB of RAm
I recently did a factory reset due to minor issues. I was able to use pc for about a week then I knocked the power cord out of DC plug.(battery is bad)<--different issue. When I tried to reboot it went straight to the setup again as if I was doing another factory reset. So my NV78 Gateway pc is stuck on setup screen with windows error regarding "unable ti finish configuration then says try restart" I tried all the things I know now I need help.

Attach your Hard Drive to another PC and see if you can retrieve any data from it.

After that, get a new hard drive for your system or if you have some extra cash sitting around, I would recommend replacing your computer with a different brand altogether - Gateway computers have a reputation for giving their users a lot of problems. Frankly I'm surprised they're still in business. Any other OEM should do.

Something I mentioned recently on another thread that on odd occasions has got a computer out of a loop:

Disconnect from domestic power and remove battery. Hold power off/on button down for about 20 seconds. Re-assemble and try out - better cross your fingers and toes because I am far from hopeful. At least it's quick to try and costs nothing.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
