Gateway Laptop 'L' Key not working

Specs: Windows 7
My fiance has an odd problem, her laptop is not returning an 'L' on either the laptop keyboard, or even when she hooks her USB keyboard up. I can't get my hands on it atm for any further diagnose until next week, but she needs it for her studies, and I'm hoping someone may have had an experience or have any ideas. She's running Windows 7. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I would recommend doing a system restore to a date before this problem began. It will not change any of her work/files, but will reset windows files back to their former working condition; if there is a corrupt system file, it will fix it. Further, even if she is not very technical, you should still not have much trouble walking her through it. Good luck.

The next step would be reinstalling the drivers from the manufacturer's site if that does not help.
