free memory (HDD low disk space) cleanup software

October 24, 2014 at 00:55:15
Specs: Windows 7
I ran disk clean up, uninstalled programs, checked for viru I also restarted the computer but it still says 2.88 GB when I already have deleted about 4-6GB worth of space! And Im pretty sure I don't have any viruses because I scan my computer at least 5 times a week. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I'm getting really frustrated

Make sure the Recycle Bin is empty because the data you deleted won't show as free space until you do that.

I use ccleaner slim for removal of junk files. Have for years and it works wonderfully. Check it out:

Just for info, the term memory is normally taken to mean RAM so what you are posting about is hard disk space.

Let us know the size of the hard disk and the free space just so that we can understand the scale of things.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

The real issue here is that your hard drive is getting full. A longer term solution would be to add another hard drive for data (desktops) and move your files to the new larger drive to free up space for your system drive to operate properly or clone the drive onto a new larger drive (laptop) and switch them out.
In the mean time, you can reduce the amount of space System Restore uses from the default 14% to 8% or 9% (saves less restore points) and depending on the setting and amount of RAM you have, you may be able to reduce the amount of virtual memory (paging file) Windows sets aside. Both will free up some room on your hard drive. Windows (MS) recommends 15% free space for your system to run properly.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
