Forgot parental control password on windows 7

Specs: Windows 7
I have a home access laptop and have forgotten the parental control password, although I can access other user accounts I cannot update or access parts of the computer without the password. I am using windows 7 professional. can you please help how I can resolve, many thanks

perhaps the password recovery disk if you created one?

Logging into an account with administrator privileges should allow you to turn off Parental controls. Then you can recreate with a new password.

Hi Mike
thanks for your post, I didn't create a disc and as laptop is part of home access programme there was no recovery disc, I have to send it away for a fee for password to be reset.

thanks for the post, I have had a look at the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/155609 and sorry it didn't work because I need supervisor password to change the password and I have forgotten the password. thanks anyway

Can you log into Windows as the administrator? Or to an account with administrator privileges?

If so, you can then go to Control panel and turn off parental controls. Then turn them back on and see a new password. You may need to reset what is allowed for each account.

Hi, no I can't log into windows as administrator as I have forgotten my password, or turn off parental controls I am currently using student logon which doesn't have the access to turn off parental controls, thanks anyway

Try to boot into Windows safe Mode (f8 at start up). Just hit enter when prompted for a password. OR: You could just perform a Windows 7 repair installation to reset back to defaults.
