firefox only works if typing or moving mouse

January 11, 2011 at 14:54:10
Specs: Windows 7, 2.4 ghz intel i3/6g RAM
fairly new laptop (a little over a month old) and this problem is just something that has popped up today (i did try restarting).

everything to do with the internet on firefox seems to pause unless i am typing or moving the mouse. even the cursor in this box does not blink unless i wave the mouse around. downloads pause but the details like speed do not change. i have to wave the mouse continually for the duration of the download. programs seem to run fine so far and IE seems unaffected, but i can't find anything on the web so far about anyone else having this issue with firefox so i thought it might be something else.

any ideas?

Run Malwarebytes to make sure you are free from an infection.
Go to Tools>Clear Recent History and select 'Everything' (in FireFox), you are probably building up a large amount of junk there.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
This site is about helping people, lets keep it that way.

I just started having this problem today - the same thing happens. If I am doing any downloading or even searching the internet I have to keep moving the mouse or everything just stops and Firefox does nothing.

I had the same thing happen to me, I had updated to FireFox 6.0 but everything was still slow moving. I downloaded the Malwarebytes program as suggested as well as cleared my recent history. The Malwarebytes program found some infected files, they were removed and once I restarted my computer everything was back to normal!! Thanks for the help
