You may have both installed in different locations on your computer. Are you looking at the version by left clicking on help in FF?

You can look in Start>Control Panel>Programs>Remove Programs. If you see both entries there, you are using the icon for the older one, uninstall the older one and if it remains, delete the icon, then look in Start>All Programs for the correct one and right click on it and select 'send to desktop as a short cut' to replace the icon.
If not, then download the new installer again, but uninstall Firefox first before you install the new one to eliminate the possible issue.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
