Solved Find hostname of secondary HDD removed from laptop

December 4, 2015 at 06:07:43
Specs: Windows 7, N/A
I have a laptop with two HDDs. The Secondary drive was removed from a system that had a board failure and has a two partitions. Is there a way to find out what the hostname was of that (old) computer? Thanks for any help.

Thank you. I saw that, but there is no Windows folder on the old C drive, so those suggestions won't help. Thanks for responding though.

The hostname would be stored in the registry of the system drive. I don't believe it would be stored anywhere in secondary drives. The registry is not contained, even partially, in secondary drives.

No, rraod definitely posted the correct answer to your question, and in more words than I would have bothered using. The only error is that there's no CurrentControlSet for offline registry, so you have to pick the correct ControlSetXXX key (as defined by the Select\Current value).

I haven't found a way to obtain the information since there is no Windows folder on the old drive.

Thanks for the suggestions, though. I appreciate the help.

forgive me if i sound naïve, but what is the relevance of your needing to know the hostname of a secondary HDD?
