Files won't come up from my jump drive

March 8, 2012 at 16:44:12
Specs: Windows 7
One morning I plugged my jump drive into the computer to print off a powerpoint and the file would not come up. So I tried the other files and as it turns out, none of the files on my jump drive will come up if I click on them. Instead, a box will pop up saying that the directory name is invalid. And if I click on a folder and then go back to the main page of the jump drive, it will say that the folder is empty. I ran a virus scan but nothing came up.

try using recuva to see if you can recover the files...thumbdrives are not reliable at all for storing files.

I had a brand new Kingston 16GB thumbdrive scramble all my pics...lost a bunch of them.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions 7 Golds

I downloaded recuva but it would not scan the jump drive because it said that no path existed. Thanks though for the suggestion

l suggest you try to use the free card recovery software which will effeciently help you retrieve the lost files.Maybe it's a bit confused for you to choose which type of free data recovery software, however, here l have provided five best goods for a quick option. That is EaseUs ,NTFS-reader,PC-Inspector File Recoery ,Restoration and Recuva. They are all best choices.
Tips: Do not proceed when your drive is making strange noises or shows a CRC read IO error. Stop using the computer before you restore your files! When you download data recovery software, you should install it on another computer. Keep the recovery software to a flash drive and the extracted data back onto the flash drive for safety.
