Files taking too much space in Win 7

Specs: Windows 7, 2.2 Core 2 Duo/3GB RAM
A few days back I had 50 GB free space. Am now shocked that I only had 7 GB free even after deleting all the files in Temp folder and downloads. Anyone can help?

Check you've emptied the recycle bin. Download & run CCleaner from http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/bu... - the portable version doesn't need installing. Finally do a full scan with your security program. If you still have problems then download Treesize free from http://www.jam-software.com/treesiz... - that will hopefully show you where your disk space is going

Clean out your browser (History, Cookies, Temp Internet Files, etc.).
Uninstall programs you never use.
Run Disk Clean Up.
Change the amount of space System Restore uses from the default 15% to 8% or 10%.
If this is a desktop, a more permanent solution is to add another hard drive and move your personal files from the old hard drive to the new and larger storage drive. This will free up a lot of space on your C drive and Windows will run much better with at least 15% free space.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If you rip music or burn movies those files can be large and will not reside in the temp folders. Especially movie files.
