files disappeared when dragged from recycle

May 30, 2011 at 14:55:55
Specs: Windows 7
I dragged a bunch of files from the recycle bin onto the desktop, but nothing appeared on the desktop afterwards, as if the files just vanished when they were being transferred onto the desktop, so i pressed control+z on the recycle bin window, hoping to undo what I did, but it says something like H:/ refers to a location that is no longer available. WHAT HAPPENED???

I never tried dragging files back out of the recycle bin. You should use the restore function.

That said, you may be able to recover the files using a utility called recuva. Get recuva at the link below.

Drag should have worked.

dunno where they went. You may have dropped them on some other folder along the way.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

If you know the name(s) try a windows search for the name, if they are in another folder they will show up. If not, the file recovery software is probably your best answer.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Just try recuva as I mentioned above. The files are marked as deleted but recuva should still see them. Recuva is free.
