File reader that is compatible with Windows 7

Specs: Windows 7
I have downloaded many "file readers" and so far all I get in my documents is a bunch of gibberish. Letters and numbers all in a nonsense manor. I have yet to find something that will read my documents and files. Please help!

Diana, What are the file extensions ( .doc, .txt, .pdf, etc.) of the files you can't read? Which programs did you download and try. We need more info.

Have you tried A43 File Manager?

Please come back and let us know the outcome.

Hi tufenuf,
So far I have had problems with all the pdf,txt and doc files. We had Windows Ultimate (which was borrowed from a friend) at one time but bought the Premium due to the fact that we could use it on 3 different pc's. I don't know if I messed it up installing the new-lesser version or what. I really am not computer literate :-)
Thank you for your response. Diana

Hi Derek, Is this A43 free? My parents are on a very limited budget and we have spent too much already on this crazy problem. What they say are free downloads usually are trial.
Thank you for your response.Diana

A43 File Manager is free. I use the stand alone version. It is a very handy and easy to use application. But it will read only files if the appropriate program is installed on the computer. Windows 7 has a lot of programs installed so A43 will read them. Same is true with most of the pictures because picture and fax viewers are on most operating systems.

Cheers Peter

Aha, you obviously don't know me. I never recommend anything that you have
to pay for LOL.

I've found it works well and, if you wish, can be made to look exactly like normal "Windows" Explorer. One minor limitation is that you cannot Cut or Copy from it
and then Paste into normal Windows, although it works fine the other way around
and within A43. Presumably it uses its own Clipbook (or Clipboard).

Please come back and let us know the outcome.
