file permission issue windows 7

Specs: Windows XP, 1.6 Celeron/1Gb
Hi, I have Win 7 HP I've got a strange file problem. I've already trawled the net and tried a variety of fixes, all to no avail.

Even though I'm the owner of the files with in my account, I get "windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them".

All the icons have a green tick at the bottom left.

Any ideas?

Hi otheHill,

thanks for the advice, but the owner is correct for all the files. However I still get the error of I don't have appropriate permissions.

I tried to access the files from another account and windows ran some kind of permission change to allow me to see then. Since that, I cannot access the files from the actual owners profile.

cheers
Jamie

So you took possession of the files while in a different location and were able to access them at that time? If that is the case then I suggest you try using the link above. Change owners name to the same name.

As mentioned in the article in order to assign permissions you may need to log in as the default administrator. Hopefully that isn't the account you have been using all along.
