File names missing under icons in W7 folders

April 6, 2011 at 14:46:44
Specs: Windows 7
Names no longer show up under the file icons. I've tried checking various forums on this issue, but so far everything I've found has not remedied the problem; tried shift left clicking in empty space, on the window, and all of the options available left the file names out still.

On the top right on the window, you will see a drop down arrow that gives you more choices on your view and you can choose one that shows the file name. An icon without a name is suitable for picture files only pretty much.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I'm having the same issue. But not in Explorer, only in the open dialog box to browse for the file in certain applications (not all). If you find the problem please post - I will as well. Good luck! (to us both)

Odd workaround I've come up with so far - right click folder icon (which is showing without it's associated filename) click "open folder location" and voila - all the file names are back - but - it doesn't persist. You have to do it every time you re-open the browse to open dialog.
