Extract windows 7 product key from win.old file

Specs: Windows 7, 2.00 GB
On win 7 I picked up a bug,"webwatcherproxy" I think.Couldn't get rid of it so I reinstalled win7 from orig. disk.Idk where I put the prod. key info.Any way of getting that info from orig install which is now a win.old file? Can't afford to buy a new license.

I'm curious...did you do a search for "how to remove webwatcherproxy"? It's an adware infection that apparently can be removed by installing & running MalwareBytes.

If you have a Win.old file, you didn't do a clean install of Win 7. In fact, your system might still be infected. Right click on Computer, then click Properties...does it show windows as being activated? If it does, you're good to go. I would still run a scan with Malwarebytes though.

You need to make a note of the number for the future.

The number is in the registry, try this to recover.
