Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate, 2gb
Right I have windows 7 ultimate on a Dell desktop. I restarted it and went to work, came back to find that the explorer has crashed and a blank black screen has taken its place. I tried using Safe Mode and ran task manager running a new task: explorer and explorer.exe and no matter what I do windows security prevents me from doing so. This also applies to every other program I try run as a new task!

I dont know how to reformat the pc nor boot it from a usb, i have a 2TB ext hardrive but dont have a copy of windows, I also dont have the disk for windows 7 anymore....I dont care much about reformatting it barring my newborns pics are on there and my other half would have me tarred and feathered if I lost them! Is there anything that I can do???

Appreciate any and all help!

first try f8 and system restore, if you dont have that option download a recovery disk from here http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windo... then run repair/system restore, if they fail, you can do a factory restore if there is a hidden partition instructions here http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...
save all your files before the factory restore.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
