Solved Errors installing windows 7 on GPT-partitioned WD 3TB HDD

February 11, 2015 at 01:41:39
Specs: Windows 7
I've been reading and trying, for at least a week, to install a fresh copy of windows 7 on a WD 3TB HDD. I've initialized the drive as GPT, format it and when it's time to install Windows, it says "...can't install Windows on a GPT drive..."

motherboard : Asus z97-AR with UEFI bios
CPU : intel i7

I don't know what to do anymore. I've looked in many forums, followed the instructions and....failed every time. Could somebody help me please?

Look here, it does go into GPT installs also:
Consider something a little bit different. Consider getting either a fast 500GB hard drive or a 120GB to 240GB SSD drive to install Windows on and for your programs and use the massive hard drive for all of your files. There are all kinds of advantages to this rather than going with the very large hard drive only. You have the advantage of easier system maintenance, faster and easier back ups, faster and easier repair/reinstallation/reimaging with less risk to your data, and many more as well. A small partition on the large drive can contain an image of the OS drive which can be very useful in the event of a drive problem or major infection problem (of course, you still need a back up plan for your data).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
