Error when copying non-protected DVD

Specs: Windows 7 64 bit, Intel i7 CPU 8GB RAM
Am attempting to make backup copies of a personal DVD-R. Tried using Roxio Creator 10 for DVD copy to same media (DVD-R). The program copies about half the data then gives me an error message and stops. I don't have the exact message, but there was no useful info to correct the situation. (This DVD contains a video copied from old 16mm reel film.)

What else can I try w/o ruining a stack of disks and my time?

There might be useful information to us.

I guess you could try another burner app. See portable apps or I think W7 does it by default.

Could make an image out of it but I suspect the disk is bad or can't be read.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

If you are trying to perform a disk to disk copy on the fly then try copying the contents of the original disk to a folder and then try burning a disk from that folder.

Posting your specs would have been useful. Roxio should have an option to slow down the read/write speed. That may help.
