Did you boot from a dvd that you made or was it a factory dvd?

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

In either case I guess the dvd may be bad. In many dvd recovery disks they use boot to the dvd, The dvd makes a faux software drive and copies in some programs. The faux drive is the x:\ .
I guess it could be that your ram has issues too.

Might be best to try using microsoft's memory diagnostics from a windows 7 dvd or get linux cd with (and all have it) memtest.

Other than that contact the maker of the computer for a new recovery dvd. They may even warranty it.
