Error Code: 0x8007045D

Specs: Windows 7, 2GB
My relatively new HP ProBook 4710s laptop with Windows 7 needs to run a scheduled backup to my Seagate external drive (500GB 9NK2AL-510), but I get a message that "The request could not be performed because of an I/O error." I've tried running backup several times, and changing backup settings, but nothing is working. The External HDD worked fine when I backed up my HP 8710p.

try reinstalling the external hard drives drivers as they may be corrupt

Thanks Jonathankoul - will try reinstalling the drivers. Strangely enough I can access previous backups from the Seagate drive and other info stored on it, but the backup problem had me stumped!
Ewen, hopefully there are few spammers on this site and jonathankoul has a good antivirus/spyware/spam programme in place!

Is Jonathankoul your next-door neighbor ? How do you know he has good spam-buster programs ?
