Specs: Windows 7
A program, Embellish, a fin graphics program ran in Vista(32bit) but not in Win7(64bit. Author, Dada Software is no longer in business and offer no support. I received a message that I was not even able to install the program when I tried.

I there any way to run this 32bit program in a 64bit version of Win7. I have MANY 32bit programs already installed, they all install in the X86 sub directory without ant problem, however this program will not.

I have been using this program since my OS/2 days and every version of Windows up until now.

I would appreciate any and all assistance you might provide.

I'd guess it was 16 bit app or maybe dll or some part of is then. Almost every known fully 32 bit app that worked in Vista works in W7.

If you have the highest priced versions of W7 you can get a free copy of xp on a virtual machine from microsoft.

If not you can still consider an old copy of xp or vista on a virtual machine.

Might work with dosbox even.

May consider down install to 32 bit unless you have some pressing need for 64 bit. A person with way more than 4 gig would be likely to want 64 bit. Very few apps are fully 64 bit even today.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

The problem is most likely that you are using a 64 bit OS. Most 32 bit applications will run on a 64 bit OS, but there are exceptions. It is quite well known that a 64 bit OS will not support 16 bit applications. The problem is that some 32 bit applications use a 16 bit installer, which 64 bit Windows has only limited support for. When beginning installation Windows checks if one of a few supported 16 bit installers are being used and substitutes it's own 32 bit code if found. If not, the application cannot be installed.
