Can you get into Safe mode?

If so, Control Panel > Power Options > Balanced > Change plan settings > Put computer to sleep > Never.

Other possibles.
1: Boot into the bios.
2: Go to either Advanced or Power, depending on which BIOS is installed & see what options are there ( if any )
Tell us, if you don't know what to choose.

Or,
Press "Suspend" twice (it's the button with the quarter moon, on my keyboard that's the function button Fn + F2).

"Monitor turns on but goes right to sleep an says no signal"

"No signal" means the monitor isn't receiving a video signal from the tower. Therefore the problem is with the tower, not the monitor. Could be the video card is bad, or the power supply, or a number of other possibilities. You haven't provided any info about the tower. "Emachine e202hl", or more correctly, eMachines E202HL, is the monitor.

It could even be the cable to the monitor or its connections but as already said "No signal" means just that, nothing is reaching the monitor.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Even though this is for a different setup, most of the causes & fixes apply.
