copied files to a dvd+r disc but nothing appears on disc when i try to restore the files
Was the disc finalized? "Channeling the spirit of jboy..."
yes it was. I copied and pasted the files but did not use burn software. should I have?
'I copied and pasted the files but did not use burn software.' Sounds like you just dropped them into a DVDRW disc....if you didn't check it when you did that, you may be out of luck. RW discs are NOT reliable at all.
You can try recuva and see if it will find any files on the DVD, at least it is free.

was not dvd-rw it was dvd+r and I did close the session.
does that change anything?
OK, well then how did you expect the pics to be on the DVD when you didn't burn them to the disc? Do you see any recorded info on the DVD when you flip it over and physically look at the disc? Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
Windows 7 is different to use. After you think you may have actually burned files to disk they are just setup in a temp file ready to burn. If you reboot you will probably see a message saying you have files waiting to be burned to disk. Look at the toolbar at the top left for a listing to burn files.
