DVD USB drive and Linux issue

Hi to all,

I recently submitted a problem about my HP laptop under W7 which refused to boot from a CD. I found out incidentally that this was due to an external USB CD/DVD drive recently installed.

When this drive is active and I want to boot from a CD, I get strange messages about isolinux finding something on CD drives. If I unplug this drive, everything goes fine.

I assume that this is coming from software that I innocently installed from the CD supplied with the USB drive, which was obviously some kind of Linux version.

However, I don't know how to uninstall this unwanted software, as I can find it nowhere on my laptop (not in the list of installed programs anyway).

Could anybody help me ? Thanks in advance - Claude

Have your tried to put another CD/DVD into the drive, e.g. Windows 7 installation CD?

What happens, when you do this?
