Specs: clean install
windows 7 64bit not reading my dvd. trying to load the os clean install. error unable to read or locate files or directory

Is it a retail Win7 disc? Are you getting the prompt, "press any key to boot from DVD..."? Did you check the boot order in the BIOS?

If you are attempting to access the DVD while running inside of Windows 7 then you shouldn't try installing that way.

Did Windows 7 come pre-installed on your computer?

What type of DVD do you have? Restore disk? Full version?
