Dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu error

October 31, 2011 at 08:13:39
Specs: Windows 7, 4.25gb
Installed Windows 7 then installed Ubuntu 11.10 inside of Windows using Wubi. It is included in the new Ubuntu version. Now I cannot boot into Ubuntu from the Windows Boot Manager. I get error "Windows failed to start..A recent hardware or software change" wubildr.mbr is missing or corrupt status 0xc000000f

When I select Windows 7 from the os boot changes it loads fine.

You would probably be better off posting this to the Linux forum since your Windows 7 is running fine and you will have people there who are more familiar with your problems. I have only a little Linux experience but none with this new wibildr, I have only installed as dual boot with Grub.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I don't like Ubuntu myself but I have installed Mint using the WUBI installer numerous times with no problems whatsoever. In fact, I just did it to another system last nite. I know it's personal preference, but I highly recommend Mint over Ubuntu. I've been using it since version 5.

How is your hard drive partitioned? I assume you booted into Win7, popped in the Ubuntu disk, waited for the Ubuntu menu to come up, then clicked "Install Inside Windows", right? Where did you put it - in the C: partition or it's own dedicated partition? Is it the 32-bit or 64-bit version? It sounds to me like you need to uninstall it, run CCleaner, reboot, then try again.
