downloading & opening RAR or torrent files

how can one freely download and use them. What other software do I need to have prior to opening such files

.RAR files are compressed files like .ZIP files. You can use 7zip (free) to unpack them. 7zip is HERE

I have not used torrent files at all. But TORRENT files, I believe, can be downloaded using torrent file client program. Go HERE for torrent download client.

rar is a file extension similar to zip. You can open rar files with the right utility. A free one that works is at the link below. Download and install it.

Torrents are a type of peer to peer downloading. IMO they are rife with nasties and if used files should be scanned before opening them.

Although Torrents are legal, many are pirated software and contain some nasty viruses. Use them at your own risk. You need a program like suatcini suggested to download them.

Torrents may be legal to share some non-copyrighted apps and files but they tend to be sources of illegal software and files.

You may be held liable for any losses that some company thinks if you share and use them. A lady from some state got a bill for millions for sharing only a few movies.
