Double Click On W7 Desktop to open a program

June 13, 2010 at 08:13:25
Specs: Windows 7/XP, Quad Core Intel
I used Directory Opus for some time and this software had a feature that if you double click on any blank part of the desktop, it would open the program.

Is there a way of getting a program to run this windows explorer

I found by doing this a much quicker way to open the program rather that double click on a specific icon.

Thanks in advance to all who take the time to reply.

Not sure if this can be done unless you use keyboard short-cuts.
Or pin it to the taskbar

How is that quicker? Seems to be an annoyance when you don't want to open that program.

Perhaps you have TOO many icons on your desktop if you have trouble finding a particular one.

If you use it often, simply put on a taskbar icon for it, that's what I do for frequently used programs.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

Thanks for the replies all.

I am aware that an icon can be placed on quick launch etc etc...
BUT...I have had to constantly open this program during my work and found it far quicker to double click a blank desktop area than to click on a specific icon.

Believe me.. once you get used to the way I mentioned it is far better.

And ...we all have our special ways of doing things don't we?

Thanks for the replies again but my question was not answered.

Cheers all
