Not sure what you mean by "reboot IE" - that term means shutting down and restarting a computer. Also when you download another IE version it should just overwrite the old one. I trust your downloads were from an official MS website. The space IE takes up is pretty well standard but without some indication where you are seeing this space and what size you are reading it is difficult to comment further.

When you say your computer is slow do you mean generally or just when online with Internet Explorer?

Whatever, if you are trying to Reset Internet Explorer then go to:
IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. There you will find the Reset button.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Linda,

If the problem is that the cache of temporary Internet files
has grown to gargantuan size (or larger), you need to clear
the cache.

You can do it either from Internet Explorer or the Control Panel.

In Internet Explorer, find the Tools button > Internet Options.

Or in the Control Panel, just click on Internet Options.

In Internet Options, on the first tab (General), where it says
"Browsing history" there are two buttons: "Delete" and
"Settings". You might want to use the Settings button first,
to take a look at what you have. When you are done looking
at stuff, use the Delete button.

Option 1
Try to Clear the cache on the internet option and check "delete browsing history on exit" so that everytime you close IE the history automatically deletes.

Option2
Try to download CCleaner , and run Analyze and then when it is finish Run Cleaner.
This Software helps you to delete internet history and Temp files on you web browser and this software can also scan registry and Fix registry issue.
