Disabling menu ms error recovery console

Specs: xp, c2duo/2GB
my friends problem
i recently formatted my pc.
but whenever i start i get a menu with options

ms error recovery console

xp

the 2 xps take me to the same location.
how do i correct this?
i HAVE to click an option everytime!

Run msconfig and go to the Boot tab and remove the one that is not needed/correct, Ok this and restart. If you get the choice now of 'Boot Normally....." then go back to msconfig and check off 'normal boot' and OK this.
(( you should have posted in the XP forum, not the Windows 7 Forum))

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
