Disable builtin camera & mic on Acer laptop

Specs: Windows 7
Disable camera & Mic on Acer Aspire 7730 HOW.
Transferring VHS video to DVD using Video 2 PC software. This works fine but the internal mic is on and becomes part of the video file cancelling the audio component of the transfer.
I have searched the conttrol panel but cannot find the components I am looking for.
I just want to disable the camera and microphone during the video 2 pc process.

The camera shouldn't come on unless you start the webcam program, so that shouldn't interfere at all. As far as the microphone is concerned, open Control Panel, click on 'sounds' then 'recording'. Look down the list for the 'microphone', select it and click on 'properties' in there you can either disable it or set the volume to 0.

Hi John
Not sure if previous reply has reached you.
Thanks for your speedy reply.
I can't do as you suggested as I don't have access to the machine.
When I do I shall let you know how I get on.
