I wonder if some of these programs actually cause faults, but accept that is beside the point. MEMFILESSERVICE.EXE belongs Glary Utilities so it seems to be having trouble with itself, hence one possible fix would be to uninstall the program. I don't think these programs always properly understand the software/hardware mix on computers.

Have you been to Internet Explorer > Help > About to check your version? You should be running IE11 and I wonder if the version is being mis-reported. You "should" be able to get IE11 here:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/...
(reason for my "should" is that all I see is a screen to say I already have it). If not, a Google search should find it but use MS websites or maybe others that you trust. I doubt IE has any bearing on Context Index Catalog though.

Application errors are not so difficult to deal with as some, provided they name the application that is failing. Often event errors are just reporting minor program bugs which can be ignored. The saying "If it aint broke don't fix it" can apply, and you say you are not noticing any problems.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

✔ Best Answer
Uninstall Glary Utilities & replace it with CCleaner-Slim. Run the Cleaner & the registry scanner & remove everything they find. Then go to Tools > Startup & disable any start entry that isn't absolutely necessary (very few are actually 'necessary'). Once that's done, reboot & run Windows Update from Start > All Programs until everything's up to date. IE11 will be one of the updates you've apparently missed.

riider

followed your steps. under IE>help, it shows IE 11. I've been getting updates for ie11 for a while. I don't remember now, where I saw ie9.
as for dereks' info, it was helpful also. I already have CCleaner.
whats a good driver updater. I have Driver Booster 2 that someone put on here. I also have Tweeking.com Windows Repair (all in one), which I don't use often. What do you recommend? Also, I was amazed to how many tracks eraser items showed up (in Glary) What's a good tracks eraser app?
Thank you very much. Sandy

The best (if not the only) place to get driver updates is from your computer manufacturer, or motherboard manufacturer if home built. I would avoid any of those driver finding programs if at all possible as they can get things wrong. Drivers do not need to be updated continuously - only when needed.

I have never used tweaking.com but I get the idea from some others on this forum that it is quite good (and therefore presumably safe to use). Personally I avoid most computer improving programs, as I regard them as unnecessary at best and can screw things up at worst. I agree with Riider's point about uninstalling Glary - in fact I mentioned that possibility at #1, especially as it was "complaining about itself".

CCleaner is OK though and if it is set right it is quite good at erasing tracks when you run it. Otherwise let us know which particular tracks are still showing and maybe we will have some ideas. I hide mine where possible (where I go is none of anyone else's business, even if I don't really go no place).

Just some "top of the head" info before you delve deeper:

Cache is a collection of files, settings or webpages that is held in order for faster access when repeating an activity at a later time. It is always a feature that has to be "balanced" because a huge cache can take longer for the system to wade through than it would to be to start afresh. This sort of balance is usually allowed for in Windows, mostly by the system but with a certain amount of manual control in specific areas.
